The Joys of Hiking on the Kalalau trail of Kauai

All in all, the trail you will be following is the Kalalau trail which is one of the longest trails in Hawaii for hiking. Covering the 11-mile trail, which begins at the Kee Beach and ends at the Kalalau beach of Kauai, requires healthy condition and strong endurance from the hikers, traveling to Kauai, for exploring the Na Pali Coast of Hawaii.

Despite having the spectacular overnight hike, amazing waterfalls, and astonishing sites of Kauai, on the track, Kalalau Trail is ranked as the most difficult trails of Hawaii by Sierra Club. Sierra club is an organization which provides guides for the hikers throughout Hawaii. For exploring the Na Pali Coast by foot, always plan your trip in summers when the track is dry. On the other side, in winters, excessive rain in Kauai will make the trail super-slippery and muddy, making it very difficult to hike via your two feet. Before starting the hike, make sure you have adequate footwear, hiking clothes, clean drinking water and insect repellent.

As you start hiking on the Kalalau trail of Kauai, you will see amateur hikers crowding the initial part of it. As you start moving the uphill and reach the edge of the trail, the crowd density will decrease and you will be delighted to see waves from ocean thrashing the sea cliffs against the blue sky of Kauai. In fact, most of the hikers start their short journey from the trailhead at Kee Beach and after covering nearly 2 miles on the track; finish their journey at the Hanakapiai Beach and decide to come back. On the contrary, some of these amateur tired hikers, looking to fully explore the natural beauty of Na Pali Coast; move another couple of miles till the Hanakapiai Falls; stay there; and rest for some time and then return. Thus, after continuing on for some 4-6 miles or so, you must be able to judge whether you have enough stamina to go further along. The view will almost certainly energize you at this point in time, I would think.

Soaked in sweat with almost seven odd miles to go, this is the time you will have to decide whether to go back or carry on the Kalalau trail. Watching the hikers returning back on the Kalalau trail from the Hanakapiai Falls may distract you from moving forward. This is the time when your stamina and hiking abilities will be tested. But covering the initial phase of the trail will give you an idea of the startling beauty of Kauai that lies ahead. How can you miss the chance to explore one of the finest and difficult coastlines of the world? How can you miss the chance of exploring one of the few tracks in the world which is hardly covered in a single day by most of the hikers? I can tell you that you are going through some of best real estate in the world. They do not call kauai the garden island for nothing.

If you desire to keep on hiking forward from here, the next thing you should bear in mind is simply the weather on the upper part of this trail. There is always a very real hazard of heavy rains leading to flash floods and falling rocks in case of bad weather in this part of Kauai. By the way if you are visiting thr garden isle and are interested in looking at some In my personal opinion, Kauai Real Estate then may I suggest Sleeping Giant Realty, they are among the vesy best in my experience.

As you are hiking along along the Kalalau trail of Kauai, you will be welcomed in the rainforest by the colorful lantana and blustering wind of the blue ocean. The beauty of the ocean from different heights and angles, along the Kalalau trail will give you immense pleasure and joy. It is a very healthy hike indeed. The things that make the Kalalau trail so challenging for hiking is due to the fact that you will have to run into tree roots, wet bushes, fallen trees and slippery rocks. Above all of these difficulties, the crests and troughs of the trail, which may rise up to 400 feet and as deep as 300 feet, are the actual cause of tiredness along this famous Kalalau trail of Kauai. These patterns of crests and troughs are repeated time and again, throughout the trail. Over times, the trail will take you to into dense jungle and sometimes it would turn into a goat trails instead of a hiking trail. During all these ups and downs, you will be astonished to have the panoramic views over cliff edges and water striking their bases, many feet below.

Securing a camping permit in Kauai is always good for anyone who really loves camping. In particular, if you are looking to go through the whole twenty-two-mile round trail in more than a single day then, you will almost certainly require one to be booked on your behalf. Camping permits for Na Pali coast are available at a rate of 10$ per night per person. At the maximum, you can stay for 5 nights at the Na Pali Coast State Park in Kauai.

Continuing on the trail will lead you to the very stunning Hanakapiai valley which really mandates a pretty touph hike of almost 750 feet and, then, into the hanging valley of Hanakoa which has absolutely no shoreline but does feature a fairly small campground..... You can stay here for sometime in the roofed shelters and resume your walk along the stream up to the Hanakoa falls. This part of the Kalalau trail is a bit open landed, dry and shaded from the midday sun of Kauai. Continuing along the trail, crossing the Kalalau stream will end your challenging hike at the Kalalau Beach. Make sure you establish your camp just behind the sand beach. Do not try to swim at the beach in this part of Kauai, especially in winters, as there are extremely dangerous waves of the ocean that can carry you along with them, and no lifeguards will come to rescue you in case you are in trouble. You can relax in your camp behind the beach after covering the 11-mile long Kalalau trail of Kauai. Enjoy and capture every moment of pleasure you can extract while on the beach, as you will have to go back on the same track covering the 11-mile hike.
