Eating like the French do

Were you aware that in France, the amount of obesity is almost 1/3 that of the American percentages? Although there are some dietary differences, the diets of American and French adults are not really all that far apart. Certain researchers think that the difference is in 2 critical areas – the serving portions & the duration of meals.

One particular research study discovered that French servings were about a quarter smaller than those in America. This research was basically consistent in restaurants and in cookbooks. A number of research studies have pointed to the fact that when we are served less food, we tend to eat less.

Furthermore, French people tend eat at a more leisurely pace, taking almost two times the time to eat a meal as contrasted to Americans, on average. There is in fact evidence to suggest that eating a meal over a longer period of time can lead to a sense of being full and satisfied with lesser amounts.

So, use common sense regarding portions. In addition, take your time while eating. These factors may make a huge difference in your lifestyle.
